Can anyone help me decide which pda phone to buy?

Sorry, your browser does not support Videolla ad video player

Hello all,

I am not sure what phone to get, I just don’t want to make wrong mistake. I have read so many good and bad reviews about each PDA phone. I’m not sure if I should go for the palm centro, The blackjack 2, or the blackberry curve. What do you guys think? or maybe even the Iphone! but it doesn’t have all those software applications.

The best place to look is cnet.com they do extensive reviews and sometimes even video reviews of phones. They even have customer reviews. You should also go to the store and actually try the phones…you want to make sure you can deal with the key pad. I have a centro and love it, but the keypad is REALLY small and takes some getting used to.

New Bluetooth Phone Goes Back To Basics

Simplified cell phones can be a joy to use after all. [ http://www.chinavasion.com/t493 ].

The problem with many of the wholesale GSM phones on the market today with a touchscreen interface is that theyre either expensive to buy or have a very twitchy interface. The makers of the Touchscreen Cell Phone have come to the party by coming up with a sub US$100 model that doesnt only work like it should do but do so while throwing in some useful features as well.

This wholesale cell phone isnt exactly packed with functions but the functions it does have it does well. The 3 inch QVGA screen performs well and has a sharp picture, theres two loud speakers built into the unit, as well as slots for two SIM cards. The wholesale mobile phone has got fairly good bluetooth and WAP connectivity to make it an incredibly potent multimedia mobile. If there were a phone to watch movies on the phone then this would be it.

Check out the specs at [ http://www.chinavasion.com/t493 ] or see what other China cellphone wholesale models Chinavasion has available at [http://www.chinavasion.com/index.php/cName/mobile-phones/ ].

Is there any way to get internet all the time, anywhere on your ipod touch without wifi hotspots? ?

I`ve had my iPod for a week and i love it!! Especially with the software update. but to get full use of it, i need internet, but i don’t have it!! any way to get it without going to a wifi hotspot all the time?

You need a hotspot, for sure. But there is a way to have a hotspot with you all the time.

The solution is perfect for folks who travel a lot and want high speed "3G" internet access while on the road for their laptops or their gadgets like an Apple iPhone or iPod Touch, or a Sony PSP/Mylo/PS3, or Nintendo Wii/DS or Nokia 770/800/810 tablet, an Archos 605 WiFi, or even the Chumby… take a look at this article:

http://www.evdoinfo.com/ipodtouch

its also a good way to get "3G" speeds on any iPhone! and faster than AT&T!

A big bag of iPhone 4 fail.

iphone-sucks

The iPhone 4 fail…

I hear it often – the iPhone 4 is terrible, it does this, it doesn’t do this… It’s generally a statement on the part of users that isn’t well thought through. In the interest of full disclosure, I don’t like the iPhone. I don’t care for Apple products in general, although they do tend to be well engineered and do what they are advertised to do. Steve Jobs is a certifiable genius, no doubt. The man has taken Apple from a company being run out of Woz’s garage to the second largest company on the planet based on market capitalization. I think BlackBerry OS and Android phones are far better, just based on the open-source platform (Android) and the way they handle email (BB).

Honestly, I believe most of the perceived iPhone 4 fail is marketing. The iPhone is advertised as the go-anywhere, do-anything product of the millennia… And it really isn’t. People that have never had or used a PDA before buy the iPhone in huge numbers, yet they haven’t a clue how to operate it properly or fix whatever issues might crop up.

In my opinion, plenty of people that HAVE iPhones don’t really need them. These people set themselves up for iPhone 4 fail by giving in to their base need to conform. They need what is referred to in the wireless industry as a quick-messaging phone, like Verizon’s Pantech Jest, or AT&T’s LG Neon 2. These aren’t true smartphones; they don’t require a smartphone data package. The drawback to these phones is that there aren’t a lot of apps for these devices, although most of them come with Facebook preloaded, which is generally the first app that people download from Apple’s App Store. The data plans associated with these phones tend to be less expensive than the $25-30 data plans required for the more-powerful phones like the Motorola Droid line, the iPhone 4, the Blackberry line and so on. These quick-messaging phones are more of a hybrid between the older ‘flip’ phones that were popular just a few years ago, and the higher-end devices that are most prevalent today.
There will be a time – likely within the next couple of years – where the only thing available will be a virtual computer/phone/social device much like the iPhone 4 and Android phones are becoming today. People are going to have to get with the program and start learning how to use these things because eventually, these are going to be all that’s available. Preventing iPhone 4 fail is easy, if you work at it. iPhone 4 fail

Educate yourselves. Quit being stupid. The guys at the Genius Bar are tired of helping your sorry asses. The guys at the AT&T store ? I can assure you, once you have purchased a phone from them, once you walk out the door, unless you have a billing problem or need a new accessory, you are dead to them. Your precious Angry Birds app makes your iPhone 4 fail crash? Call Apple. Better hope you bought AppleCare, or you’re coughing up $29 for a service call (past 90 days, anyway).

Truly, the source of 95% of the iPhone 4 fail is in the hands of the user. Don’t buy a phone if you are not going to spend at least SOME time learning how it works, or you will be setting yourself up for 24 months of disappointment.

iPhone 4 fail sucks bollocks.

Why Did My Call Drop?

Call drop.

Why did my call drop? . “I was just talking on my phone, and all of a sudden – ‘call failed’. This phone/network/life sucks”.

Reality is, it’s WAY more complicated than that. People that don’t have a grasp of what actually goes into a cell network or actually processing a call seem to have a tremendously simple view of what happens, and as consumers, they have that right. After nearly 100 years of standard landline service, where the POTS reliability neared 100%, customers have come to expect that when they hit ‘send’ on their cell phone, the call will process with the same reliability as their landline phone. Unfortunately, that’s just not the case. There are approximately 12-15 things that have to happen every second for that phone to make or receive a call, and if any ONE of those things fails to happen, or happens out of sequence, either the call quality will seriously degrade, or it will call drop. Frankly, to me it is a miracle that these things work perfectly nearly as often as they do.
Consider one cell tower. That tower’s coverage area depends on several things. Height is one, and generally the higher the tower, the more square mileage it will cover. This can be affected by plenty of things, from the downtilt of the antennas to the actual landscape around said tower.

Other things affect call drop.

Usage is another factor. A tower is divided into three 120˚ sectors, and each sector can generally handle a certain number of users at one time – the radio spectrum assigned to it is subdivided into channels (gross simplification) and one call uses one channel, let us say, plus there is generally one signaling channel, which is used by the tower to tell a phone when a call or text message comes in, and it is used by the phone to tell the tower ‘here I am’. If all the channels are being used, and you try to make a call, your phone might well have full service, but you will call drop because there is simply no space to process the call. Usually, network RF engineers try to accommodate this, and will design the network in a crowded urban environment with smaller cells closer together so as to handle more traffic. Sometimes networks get more crowded due to a special event, like the Superbowl, or a natural disaster, like a hurricane, and the engineers will bring in a small, portable cell tower to handle the temporary overload. A good example of this was in early fall 2005 in Lafayette, LA; Verizon’s local network became overloaded due to a large influx of refugees from New Orleans and Lake Charles, and Verizon’s network engineers brought in several Cell On Wheels (COWs) which handled the network overflow beautifully. Call-failed percentages dropped drastically after this happened.

No more ‘call drop’.

Which of the top smartphones for 2010 is right for me?

top smartphones for 2010

top smartphones for 2010

top smartphones for 2010

There were many new smartphones released in 2010, but most people are only interested in the top smartphones for 2010. Since the iPhone came out in 2007, the percentage of smartphones as part of total mobile devices has climbed to approximately 28%. You might say to yourself, hey, I’m a smart guy, I should have one too!

Well, there is a dizzying array of top smartphones for 2010 and operating systems out there. Here’s how you decide which one you need:

  1. If you’re not very computer savvy, and you’ve never had a smartphone before, get an iPhone. Of the top smartphones for 2010, this by far was the leader of the pack. It’s simple to use and pretty much everybody on the planet has one, so if you run into trouble the average teenager can be your salvation. Seriously. They’re reliable. True, the call quality sometimes sucks, and sometimes they do weird things but that is true of every smartphone and most other mobile devices besides.
  2. If you need one for work (or LOTS of email), look into a BlackBerry. The email system is robust and secure. Hell, the first BlackBerry device was really just a glorified two-way pager; it didn’t even make phone calls. It will do pretty much everything the iPhone will do, including Facebook, it works as a media player, and if you work in a sensitive job (defense contractor, government, etc.) the encryption system is the best out there.
  3. Do you hate Apple or are you pretty tech-savvy and you don’t like the lack of control you have over your iPhone? Look into an Android handset. Of the top smartphones of 2010, this operating system was closely trailing the iPhone in overall popularity. There are a lot of them out there (Motorola’s Droid handsets probably being most well-known), and they all have different features with regard to processor speed, on-board memory, physical keyboards versus touchscreen, et cetera. The one thing they have in common is the operating system. It’s open source, which means that anybody can modify and improve the OS. This is a good thing. You can modify it all day long, much more so than the iPhone.
  4. Microsoft recently released a new operating system, Windows Phone 7. It is far more stable than Windows Mobile 6.5 ever was, and in operation it tends to act more like a cross between an iPhone and an Android handset. Personally I’d wait six months or so until they iron out whatever bugs or glitches pop up
  5. Remember Palm? They made the Palm Pilot and the execrable Treo. HP bought them. Their smartphones still suck. They DO NOT make the list of top smartphones of 2010. Ignore them, unless you enjoy torturing yourself. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
  6. To be fair, Nokia sells smartphones that run Symbian, but they aren’t sold here in the US. You might be able to buy one off eBay, and you might even like it, but no one –NO ONE – around you will have one, and if it crashes and burns (which sometimes happens with electronic stuff) you are what is colloquially known as S.O.L.

Personally, I like Android. It doesn’t crash much, it does what I want. Then again, so does the iPhone. It really all boils down to the individual – what works great for me might be a horrible experience for the next person. So, the list of top smartphones for 2010 is a long and distinguished one, but it really boils down to pretty reliable handsets. With Verizon soon to be offering the iPhone 4, you now have more combinations than ever of handset/network options. Do your homework and choose wisely when considering any of the top smartphones for 2010; you will be stuck with this device for at least the next year.
