If you have a Palm OS handheld Ver.4.9 or below, it is the Graffiti screen and cannot be hidden. If it is Ver. 5.0 or higher, it is still the Graffiti screen but CAN be hidden.

That is the Graffiti writing area. Instead of using an on-screen keyboard you can use that area to input characters, and utililize application shortcuts.

Grafitti (sp?) pad. For handwriting recognition. You can write letters there and your PDA will recognize them. The other icons are shortcuts to other functions of the PDA.
