TPI’s Distributed Antenna Systems Score with Sports Venues

Author: admin  //  Category: Wireless Services

When fans at the massive new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas use their cell phones to make a call, check scores on the mobile web or post pictures to their Facebook pages, they’re using Telecommunication Properties Inc.’s playbook for robust in-building Wireless Services.

TPI, an industry leader in distributed antenna systems (DAS) since its founding in 1985, has the challenging task of making sure all the cell phone signals and wireless data coming into and out of Cowboys Stadium gets to where it’s supposed to go on Sundays in the fall. The company says it can put all the various players – sports arena owners, wireless providers, venue contractors and fans – on the same team thanks to its expertise in cell site location, antenna technology and wireless systems.

The Future of Municipal Wireless

Author: admin  //  Category: Wireless Services

When EarthLink announced its decision to withdraw further investments in municipal wireless networks in November 2007, the future of Philadelphia’s network, along with hundreds of municipal wireless projects, became uncertain. Wireless Philadelphia, the nation’s first big-city municipal wireless initiative, led the way for cities to invest in broadband infrastructure. Although a number of other muni wireless networks have been set up and are running successfully (such as St. Cloud, FL and Chaska and Minneapolis, MN) troubles with the Philadelphia model serve as a warning for the future of municipal wireless. Meanwhile, cities like Pittsburgh must overcome state pre-emption laws, pushed through by incumbent carriers, aimed at preventing towns and counties from filling broadband gaps with government-subsidized services.

Protest of T-Mobile Antennas in Windsor Hills/View Park

Author: admin  //  Category: Wireless Services

Windsor Hills/View Park Residents Support and Thank CVS Corporation and CVS Regional Manager, Earle Robinson. Shortly after this picket, Mr. Robinson went to bat for the residents, testifying against T-Mobile and the property owner, Alexander Haagen. After more than 1 1/2 years and 7 hearings, Windsor Hills/View Park Residents Prevailed. see:

http://cbs2.com/local/Windsor.Hills.Residents.2.1056662.html

Also see: http://www.cloutnow.org/ and sign or endorse the petition to bring back local control to regulate wireless facilities. CLOUT (Coalition for Local Oversight of Utility Technologies – http://www.cloutnow.org/) is a fast growing national coalition formed as a result of this tremendous backlash against the unchecked proliferation of wireless facilities now targeting residential areas and schools, as wireless companies seek to market new Wireless Services. (fyi: T-Mobile is currently the most aggressive because, unlike the largest wireless carriers -AT&T and Verizon-, they have no wired infrastructure/landlines to compete for market share of customers who buy bundled services. T-Mobile has also been heavily marketing wireless only households with their HotSpot At Home.)

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors also took action June 2nd, calling for Repeal of Federal Cell Tower Health Preemption. You can read their resolution at the www.cloutnow.org site in addition to the LA City School boards resolution regarding cell towers near schools that passed May 26th. Be sure to see letters of endorsements.

Residents across the country have been outraged over the disregard outside telecom companies have for local building and zoning codes, the deceptive and aggressive tactics used by wireless companies to force their way into residential areas, and the fact that many placements of cell towers and related wireless facilities turn out to be unnecessary to serve existing demand or provide public safety benefits. Elected officials should also be informed that 911 calls from cell phones are designed to be picked up by any available carrier as long as the cell phone making the call has a charged battery and even if the contract has expired for that phone. Arguing that more cell towers are needed to ensure 911 service is a red herring used by cell carriers throughout the country to justify their own business plans and marketing goals, while encouraging citizens to give up landlines and the loss of payphones which provide the most reliable public safety benefits. Compare Merchant Accounts

Author: admin  //  Category: Wireless Services

All merchant accounts are not created equal, and it will be up to you to find the best package for your particular enterprise. Here are a few tips to keep in mind.

Compare Merchant Accounts for lenders. You need to find a reputable lender that will work with you to protect and grow your company interests. Someone who doesnt care or who issues a merchant account solely to make money is not the best underwriter to take on as partner. Look at things like how long the company has been in business, who manages it, other services that are provided, and the companys standing in the business community. You may want to read the newspapers business articles archive for recent press releases or company news. You also could browse a few industry publications to get a feel for who the best lenders in the business might be. You want to find a lender with a reputation for integrity, honesty, and professionalism as well as capability.

Compare Merchant Accounts for services. A merchant accounts greatest advantage, at least as claimed by some experts, is the ability for a company owner to accept credit card payments. You need to find out which credit card payment method is best for your company. For example, do you plan to accept credit payments at your companys location? Or will you or another employee take a wireless unit on the road for point-of-sale transactions at residential or business locations? Perhaps you are thinking about establishing a Website presence to attract customers from every location in the world. Find out what your preferred lender will support, along with possible fees for maintenance and service agreements.

Compare Merchant Accounts for costs. Some lenders may ask you to pay an online application fee. Others may want you to join and pay an annual membership rate. There can be print statement fees, gateway costs, and other expenses associated with your merchant account. In addition, you will have to pay for the actual service that may be calculated on a per-transaction basis costing perhaps a few cents per payment or a low monthly overall interest rate that may or may not impose certain minimums. Read the fine print, ask lots of questions, and be prepared to do your homework before signing the contract. A merchant account may be the single most important decision you will need to make on your companys behalf.

Compare Merchant Accounts for service. Even in the application stage, does the company provide easy access to personnel who can answer questions or help you understand the process? Are the company associates courteous and knowledgeable? Can you follow their directions? If you experience a problem, is the company prompt in responding to issues and resolving complaints? If a problem arises with the processing services, will the lender work with you to reinstate service as quickly as possible?

Considerations like these can help you competently Compare Merchant Accounts!

Mobile Commerce (M-commerce)

Mobile Commerce (M-commerce)

 Introduction

Rarely has a new area of business been heralded with such enthusiasm as “mobile commerce”, that is the conduct of business and services over portable, wireless devices. Due to the astronomical growth of the Internet users, maturation of the Internet technologies, realization of the Internet’s capabilities, the power of electronic commerce, and the promising advancement of wireless communication technologies and devices, mobile commerce has rapidly attained the business forefront. An m-commerce application can be B2B, B2C or any other of the classifications available with e-commerce world.

Motivating Factors for M-Commerce

Internet use has grown to such a level on the strength of PC networks. Due to the huge base of installed PCs, which is predicted to grow in a faster pace in the days to come, electronic commerce and other communication applications are bound to thrive further. Also, these computing systems will have greater power and storage capability, the best ever price-performance ratios, more powerful and sophisticated applications will likely emerge for desktop computing and the Internet. However, there are two major limitations on PCs. First , users have to sit in front of them, PCs, even portable-notebook computers, have to load software, dial into and connect with a network service provider and await for the initial process to be accomplished before launching an Internet application.

 Wireless Technologies

Just as the TCP/IP and the general purpose Web browsers are being the current principal drivers of Internet growth and this in turn makes disparate devices to connect themselves and communicate and interoperate. Similar protocols, technologies and software will play a very important role in heterogeneous wireless devices to interoperate without any complexity. In the recent past, a common communications technology and uniform interface standard for presenting and delivering several distinct Wireless Services on wireless devices – Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) have emerged. The WAP specifications include a micro-browser, scripting language just like JavaScript, access functions and layered communication specifications for sessions, transport and security. These specifications enable interface-independent and interoperable applications. Many of the wireless device manufacturers, service and infrastructure providers have started to adopt the WAP standard.

M-Commerce Applications

The general m-commerce applications are categorized as transaction management, digital content delivery and telemetry services. The applications can be further subdivided into passive and active m-commerce applications. Active application relates with the applications in which the user has to take the initiative on his wireless device. In contrast, the passive applications themselves get activated towards accomplishing the assigned jobs or facilitate the users to carry forward.

Conclusion

As m-commerce applications and wireless devices are evolving rapidly, one will take forward the other one towards empowering innovation, versatility and power in them. There are a number of business opportunities and grand challenges of bringing forth viable and robust wireless technologies ahead for fully realizing the enormous strength of m-commerce in this Internet era and thereby meeting both the basic requirements and advanced expectations of mobile users and providers.
